THE HISTORY OF THE GUESTHOUSE, YOUR HOSTS
MORGANE AND LIONEL
In 1983 Claire and Jean-Philippe, both potters in a village of the “Alpes de Haute-Provence” called Opedette, decide to leave their village in order to settle in Roussillon. They have a project to diversify their activity.
Jean-Philippe draws the plans of a mediterranean inspired house. The design is a bit forward-thinking in terms of passive solar.
The Poterie de Pierroux will be launched in 1985. It will become a big house arranged around a patio and a greenhouse. The house will include a pottery workshop and bed and breakfast.
For 25 years Claire will make the rooms ‘live’. Jean-Philippe’s pottery will be taken over by Alain in 1995.
In 2008, following the birth of their daughter Clémentine, Claire and Jean-Philippe’s daughter Morgane and her husband Lionel decide to come back to Roussillon to settle. Having both received environmental training, they aspire to a quality of life in the country side and close to their children Clémentine, Marguerite and Liselotte.
VALUES AND PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE
We (Morgane and Lionel) welcome you in all simplicity in our warm and family friendly guesthouse. We’ll be happy to share with you our knowledge of the region. The Poterie de Pierroux is located in a peaceful place in the heart of the Luberon and near exceptional ochre sites.
It is for this reason that we have been benefiting for more than 20 years from the Gîte Panda label and that today we are part of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism. Also, in 2014 we obtained the marque Accueil Parc (Luberon Regional Nature Park).
These labels provide our guests with documentation on the environment of the region (provided by the Luberon Park and enriched by us). We will be happy to complete this bibliographic contribution with our experience and love of our region (from heritage and gastronomy through the environnement).
With regards to our personal convictions we also strive to bring our guest rooms to a minimum impact on the environment. Our rooms are equipped with a solar water heater. We have chosen to subscribe to Enercoop’s renewable electricity offer. We offer breakfasts based on organic, local and homemade products and we favor gentle transportation by providing bikes.
